Probably the most popular basil on the market, this classic basil has large leaves, attractive and very reliable variety. Delicious in all tomato-based dishes, this heavy cropper prefers a sunny position and well drained soil. Suitable for growing in containers. Height 35-40 cm. Sow basil sweet genovese seeds from February onwards inside or outside from May, in small pots, or in fine seedbed. Just cover the basil seeds with fine compost/soil; can be grown inside all year around, germination 10-15 days, keep the soil slightly moist. As a mediterranian herb ideally grown above 20 Celsius. Basil seeds can be sown direct outside from late spring, through the summer. These seeds are organically produced. Transplant the basil plants outside end of June, in a sunny/partly shady position, plants like dry and sunny conditions. Keep picking the leaves to encourage further production. Harvest in masses just before flowewring and instead of drying try to freeze the leaves in smaller bags, this will preserve the fine taste.
